Joan Austin

Distinguished Professor

Dr. Austin is the first nurse to serve as the president of the American Epilepsy Society. She is a leading expert on family adaptation to childhood epilepsy, and her work has been published in Nursing Research, Pediatrics, and Journal of Epilepsy.

Dedicated to advancing the science of nursing through excellent nursing education, our staff members are an integral part of our team, working with our internationally recognized faculty to provide world-class educational and clinical experiences for our students.

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing
In 1922, we founded the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, which has evolved into a quarter-million member nursing honor society that includes practicing nurses, instructors, researchers, policy makers, executives, entrepreneurs, and others.
